Gina Schock


Gina Schock is the powerhouse drummer for the all-female rock band The Go-Go's. Before joining The Go-Go's, Gina was already an accomplished musician, originally aspiring to be a singer and guitarist before shifting her focus to drumming in her teens. Her high-energy style, characterized by precision and infectious rhythms, quickly gained attention. In 1979, Schock moved to Los Angeles to pursue her music career, and soon after, she joined The Go-Go's. Her arrival brought a new level of musical intensity to the band, helping to shape their signature sound and elevate their performances.

With Gina on drums, The Go-Go's became one of the most successful female rock bands in history, achieving widespread fame with hits like "We Got the Beat," "Vacation," and "Our Lips Are Sealed." The band’s debut album, Beauty and the Beat, topped the Billboard charts, making The Go-Go's the first all-female band to write their songs and play their instruments on a No. 1 album. Schock's tight drumming was essential to the band's infectious pop-punk sound, and her dynamic stage presence endeared her to fans around the world. Beyond her work with The Go-Go's, Gina has co-written songs for other artists, including Miley Cyrus and Selena Gomez, and collaborated on various music projects, further showcasing her versatility and creativity.

In addition to her music career, Schock has pursued interests in photography and publishing. In 2021, she released a book titled Made In Hollywood: All Access With The Go-Go's, a photographic memoir filled with candid images from her time with the band and insights into her life as a musician. As The Go-Go's gained renewed attention following their Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction in 2021, Gina’s legacy as a pioneering female drummer and her role in shaping the face of pop-rock continue to inspire new generations of musicians.
